President Bush vs. Congress

So Congress and President Bush are at a Mexican standoff? Bush is
not budging on the bill that Congress is drawing up for him. Well you
know what - Congress will blink first.

He says he will veto any bill coming across his desk that sets a time
frame for the troops to withdraw from Iraq. President Bush is not
doing them or their families any favors by having them continue
staying over there. This man is so far gone that he can't recognize
when it is time to change strategies. Congress better stick to their
guns by not giving in to the nonsense coming from this entire
administration. The majority of the American people say it is time
for the troops to withdraw and so does the majority of Congress.
I thought this was a democracy and majority ruled.

The bill that I mentioned before states that there should be a time
constraint placed on the additional forces to withdraw and if
President Bush agrees to this Congress will approve the funding.
Our president wants Congress to come up with a bill - no questions
asked and no conditions- especially no mention of withdrawal.
Hopefully the days of the blank check are gone.

Here is my solution: When the new president takes office after his
first act of withdrawing the troops he should make it clear to the
Iraqi government that we (the Unites States) are not abandoning
them. With all of the contractors that are already there the president
should assign military personnel to assist the government in their
rebuilding efforts. He can most certainly give them the support that
they need without sacrificing a great number of our troops.

Nowadays when a new recuit enlists in the army he/she goes through
8 weeks of basic training then onto AIT (advanced indidual training)
from there they are being sent straight to Iraq. If our people are
being trained in this amount of time and being sent to war. After 5
years why aren't the Iraqi military forces trained in numbers where
they can defend thier own country.
